Sufficient security measures set for MC6
*

Commissioner of Police Dick Lee says sufficient security measures have been set for the WTO Sixth Ministerial Conference, adding everyone entering the conference venue must carry valid security passes.

Speaking to the press this morning, the Police chief said reports of missing security uniforms, protesters snapping up gas masks, or some demonstrators planning to storm police barricades are not based on solid evidence.

Mr Lee told reporters that Police have worked out the arrangements for two processions with the Hong Kong People's Alliance on WTO. He believed the two processions will be conducted in an orderly and peaceful manner.

Security head happy with arrangements

Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee says the Government and Police are well-prepared for the WTO Sixth Ministerial Conference, adding he is confident the event will be held smoothly.

The secretary said he was glad the first anti-WTO procession was held peacefully and he hoped the other two processions will also be held in an orderly manner.

Police have maintained close contact with the organiser, Mr Lee said, adding the protesters have stated they will respect Hong Kong's laws and will try to avoid taking violent actions.
