The Environment, Transport & Works Bureau today gazetted notices specifying speed limits on roads within tunnel areas.

Section 40 of the law stipulates that speed limits on roads have to be gazetted except for those of 50km/h.

A review on application of the ordinance to the tunnel areas found that speed limits in those areas needed to be gazetted to facilitate effective enforcement.

Even in areas where varied speed limits have not been gazetted before, the 50km/h limit still applies.
