Customs officers have shut down a pirated disc syndicate, arresting 17 people. Officers raided 16 locations in Mong Kok, Tai Kok Tsui, Shek Kip Mei and Lai King, including a shop and residential units.

About 50,000 discs, 11 sets of disc replicating devices and seven CD writers worth $1.06 million were seized.

Fourteen men and three women, aged 19 to 66, were arrested. Three of the men were two-way permit visitors.
