The Central Library and the Immigration Department's headquarters in Immigration Tower will continue to provide services during the WTO's Sixth Ministerial Conference.
The Immigration Department said crowd-control arrangements and special security measures will be introduced at the Immigration Tower from December 8.
People who wish to file applications at the headquarters are advised to approach the office before or after the conference.
They can also approach Immigration branch offices to avoid the congestion in Wan Chai. For enquiries, call 2824 6111, fax 2877 7711 or visit the department's website.
Due dates extended
From December 8 to 18, the entire ground floor of the Hong Kong Central Library will be used for conference-related purposes.
During this period, the library will remain open as normal but will step up its security and enforce access control.
To provide greater flexibility to readers in returning borrowed library materials, the due dates of all materials checked out between November 24 and December 4 will be extended beyond December 18.
Some of the facilities in Victoria Park and Southorn Playground will be used for conference-related purposes.
Since the Police have designated Wan Chai Sports Ground as a public activities area in connection with conference-related demonstrations, the venue will not be open for sporting events.
