GFS open day set for Nov 20

 

The Government Flying Service headquarters at Chek Lap Kok will open to public November 20, allowing people to view its aircraft and meet air crew.

 

It opens 10am to 5.30pm at 18 South Perimeter Road, Hong Kong International Airport, Lantau.

GFS Jetstream J-41 aircraft GFS open day souvenir

Flying high: The GFS open day will give visitors a close look at a Jetstream plane, often used in search and rescue operations. Super Puma helicopter magnets will be given as souvenirs.

A Super Puma Helicopter and Jetstream plane, along with aviation and fire services equipment will be open for inspection. The Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department and the Air Cadet Corps will run game stalls while the Lands department and Civil Aid Service will display aerial photography and mountain rescue equipment.

  

A children's-sized flying suit will be on hand for kids to dress up as a pilot for photos.

 

Shows will be held at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm, including a flight demonstration and performances by the Police Dog Unit, the Civil Aid Service Motorcycle Team, the Auxiliary Police Band and the Air Cadet Corps Ceremonial Squadron.

 

Admission is free. Take bus route S52 at Tung Chung MTR Bus Terminus. No parking spaces will be available. For more information click here or call 2305 8212.
