Secretary for Justice Elsie Leung is in Bangkok to attend the 2nd China & ASEAN Countries Procurators-General Conference.
She is among the delegates from Hong Kong, Macau and the Chinese provinces neighbouring Thailand - Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and Hainan. Matters relating to the combat of cross-border crime are on the agenda.
Ms Leung said she was glad to discuss with the Thai Attorney General the progress of mutual legal agreements.
At present, a Transfer of Sentenced Persons Agreement is in place between the Hong Kong and Thai governments. Discussions regarding a Surrender of Fugitive Agreement and a Mutual Legal Assistance Agreement are continuing.
