The vanguard: Chief Secretary for Administration Rafael Hui (centre) visits the Junior Police Call Fight Crime Summer Camp at Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village. |
The Junior Police Call will evolve into a semi-uniformed organisation with the establishment of a new leadership tier, Commissioner of Police Dick Lee says.
Speaking at the JPC Fight Crime Summer Camp at Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village today, Mr Lee said the change was made after the scheme was reviewed last year.
Mr Lee said the JPC has become the vanguard of Hong Kong's youth services since its establishment in 1974, instilling positive values through youth activities.
At a ceremony today, 160 youngsters who passed a four-day examination of Police knowledge, leadership, management, personal development and foot drills were appointed JPC Advanced Leaders. They will oversee the JPC's 140,000 members and 20,000 Leaders.
