HK Island sees 1,700 traffic accidents

A total of 1,760 traffic accidents involving casualties have occurred on Hong Kong Island this year, with half attributed to pedestrian negligence.

 

To promote road safety, Police conducted a two-day regional traffic day on Hong Kong Island, ending at 7pm today.

 

A total of 390 fixed-penalty tickets and 36 summonses were issued during the operation. Another 277 fixed penalty tickets were issued for illegal parking and 113 for other traffic offences. Fifty-eight pedestrians and 260 drivers were cautioned for minor offences.

 

Road safety pamphlets were also distributed.
