12,000 pirated discs seized
*

Customs officers have seized a record 12,000 pirated discs sold via an Internet auction site and a computer worth $310,000 in total, following the arrest of two people.

Acting on complaints, officers found pirated animation discs were being sold through a local website. With assistance from the Internet service provider, officers located a computer used for uploading materials to the site.

They mounted an operation in North Point yesterday and arrested a 28-year-old man in an MTR station when he handed pirated discs to an undercover officer.

A subsequent search of a flat resulted in the disc seizure and the arrest of a 22-year-old woman.
