Gov't expresses concern over Ching Cheong case
*

Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee says the Government is highly concerned over the arrest of journalist Ching Cheong. It will offer help to Mr Ching's family in strict accordance with the existing procedures and the 'one country, two systems' principle.

Speaking to the press today, Mr Lee say the Government will monitor the development of the case and maintain close contact with Mr Ching's wife.

However, he stressed the incident involved the Mainland's legal and judicial systems and the Government cannot intervene in the process.

Refusing to comment on the details of the case, the secretary reminded Hong Kong residents not to violate any local or domestic laws when they are outside Hong Kong.
