A restaurant proprietor has been fined $4,000 and ordered to pay $1,000 costs at Eastern Magistracy for obstructing two labour inspectors.

The Labour Department today said an inspector is authorised to enter places of employment to check records and identification documents. They conduct frequent inspections to enforce labour and immigration laws.

It urged employers to fully co-operate with inspectors.
