2 dead, 1 injured in two road accidents

Two men are dead and one injured after two separate road accidents, a late-night crash in Tai Po and a mid-day crash in Pok Fu Lam.

 

In the first, a 26-year-old man was killed after the 21-year-old driver of the car he was riding in lost control of the vehicle. The driver was injured.

 

The two were travelling along Tai Po Road towards Kowloon at about 11pm when the accident occurred. Near Deerhill Bay, the driver reportedly lost control, veered into the opposite lane, crashed into the hillside, rammed a hydrant and overturned.

 

Afterwards, the two were trapped inside the car and rescued by firefighters. They were sent to Prince of Wales Hospital where the passenger was certified dead at about 12:10am.

 

The New Territories North special traffic investigation team is looking into the crash. Anyone who might have seen the accident is urged to contact the investigating officers at 2675 3325.

 

Medium goods vehicle driver dies

In the second, a 27-year-old man was driving a medium goods vehicle along Pok Fu Lam Road towards Aberdeen at about 12:55pm. Near Victoria Road, the man reportedly lost control, rammed the railings on the left and overturned.

 

Firefighters rescued the man, who who trapped inside. He was sent to Queen Mary Hospital where he was certified dead at 2:07pm.

 

Hong Kong Island's special investigation team for traffic is following up. Anyone who saw the accident is asked to contact the officers on 3106 8838.
