Court judgment under study: Ambrose Lee
*

Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee says the Government is studying the Court of Final Appeal's judgment which has overturned the convictions of eight Falun Gong followers who were found guilty of obstructing and assaulting Police during a protest outside the Liaison Office in 2002.

In its judgment, the Court of Final Appeal said it was not criticising Police officers' behaviour, adding the officers had faced a difficult situation.

The court also said the officers were exercising restraint and discharging their duties in a professional way.

Stressing Police officers will continue to exercise their power and discharge their duties in strict accordance with the Hong Kong laws, Mr Lee said the Government will try to draw up guidelines for officers to exercise their duties in future.
