The Police, Fire Services Department and Hospital Authority conducted a joint exercise at Ocean Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui to enhance the Government's inter-agency co-ordination and readiness for potential terrorist threats.

It aimed to arouse greater awareness, enhance inter-agency co-ordination and maintain closer liaison in potential terrorist threats through the involvement of concerned departments and private organisations.

The exercise was a simulation of a terrorist attack where a chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear device was found on board a vessel berthed at a pier. A large number of 'casualties' were involved.

Police said about 250 police officers took part in the exercise, which was one in a series of similar exercises in recent years.
