91 netted in anti-triad operation

Ninety-one people aged 16 to 58 have been arrested in a three-day anti-triad operation in Tuen Mun and Yuen Long.

 

The operation was mounted April 7 to 9, to curb the gangs' sources of income and activities in the districts. Police joined Customs and Immigration officers to raid 76 black spots.

 

Forty-seven men and 44 women were arrested for conspiracy to drug trafficking, operating a gambling establishment, illegal gambling, breach of conditions of stay, soliciting for immoral purpose, criminal damage, assault and offences under Dutiable Commodities and Copyright Ordinances.

 

Some 38,600 contraband cigarettes, 7,000 litres of illicit oil, 14,900 pornographic and game discs, a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs, some cash and gambling chips were seized, worth $425,000.
