Tenancy abuse appeal rejected
*
Housing Department

An appeal lodged by a Housing Authority factory unit tenant has been rejected by the Appeal Panel. The tenant was being served with a Notice-to-Quit for operating an illegal gambling establishment in his unit.

The tenant is required to move out of units at Block 1 of Chai Wan factory building in early May.

Following the conviction of eight people arrested by the Police last year for engaging in illegal gambling activities in the units, the Housing Department served the tenant with an Notice-to-Quit last October.

At a hearing last month, the Appeal Tribunal confirmed the Notice-to-Quit.

The department reiterated its zero tolerance policy towards abuse of public housing resources, adding that Notice-to-Quits will be served once there is sufficient evidence to prove tenancy abuse.
