HK tsunami death toll hits 15
*

Three unlocated Hong Kong residents have been confirmed dead in the South Asian tsunami. It brings the Hong Kong death toll to 15.

The Security Bureau said the deaths were confirmed by Thai authorities through the victim identification process, adding the Government has approached the families of the deceased to provide help.

Meanwhile, 25 unlocated Hong Kong residents remain. All are reported to be in Thailand.

The Government will continue to follow outstanding cases and provide practical assistance to Hong Kong residents and their families where necessary.

Police have contacted relatives of missing Hong Kong residents to collect voluntary DNA samples. Analysed DNA information and fingerprint records have been sent to Thai authorities for identification.

Hong Kong residents can call the Immigration Department hotline at 2829 3010 for assistance.
