Police, action group discuss WTO protests
*
Hong Kong Police

Police have met a concern group to discuss public order during the World Trade Organisation meeting to be held in Hong Kong December 13 to 18.

Police said the meeting with the Hong Kong People's Alliance on the WTO at Police Headquarters today was friendly and constructive. Further meetings will be held.

Alliance representatives were briefed on the statutory requirements under the Public Order Ordinance, should they intend to hold events.

The Police said it respects freedom of expression and all lawful and peaceful public order events will be facilitated. All suggestions received from organisations intending to arrange public order events during the summit will be taken into consideration. Police will endeavour to make appropriate arrangements for protesters to stage demonstrations orderly and peacefully.
