Tsunami aftermath

*
30 HK residents still missing
*

About 877 enquiries and 1,426 requests for assistance have been made on the Immigration Department's 2829 3010 hotline, as at noon today.

There remain 30 missing Hong Kong residents, of whom 28 were reported to be in Thailand and two in Indonesia. Twelve Hong Kong residents are confirmed dead in the South Asian tsunami.

At the moment, no Hong Kong residents are known to remain in hospital as a result of the disaster.

The Government said it will continue to follow up all outstanding cases and provide practical assistance to Hong Kong residents, who can call the Immigration Department's hotline at 2829 3010.

Police will continue to contact relatives of missing Hong Kong people for the collection of DNA samples. The Police have so far taken samples from 27 family members of the missing.

A dedicated web page containing information on the tsunamis can be accessed through a hyperlink at this website or the Immigration Department's site.
