$2m in cocaine seized, woman arrested
*
Customs & Excise Department

About 2.5kgs of cocaine worth about $2 million was seized from a 33-year-old Filipino woman at the airport yesterday.

The drug was in concealed compartments of a hand-carried travel bag she had on arrival from Rio de Janeiro via Paris.

She will be charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear in Tsuen Wan Magistracy tomorrow.

It is the first cocaine trafficking case detected by Customs at the airport since October last year when officers seized 1kg from a Columbian man.

The maximum penalty for drug trafficking is a $5 million fine and life imprisonment.
