16-year-old charged for newborn's murder

*
Hong Kong Police

Police have charged a 16-year-old girl with murder after a newborn boy was found dead on the podium of a building in Tseung Kwan O.

Police received a report just after 4am on Saturday, and found the baby on the first-floor podium of Fai Lam House in Tsui Lam Estate.

The placenta and umbilical cord were found with the baby, who was certified dead at the scene.

Police conducted door-to-door enquiries and found a girl inside a flat in the building. She was arrested for infanticide and sent to the United Christian Hospital for treatment.

The girl reportedly threw the newborn out of a window after giving birth at her home early Saturday morning.

The case will be brought before the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts on Monday.

The Kwun Tong District Crime Squad is investigating.
