*
Hong Kong Police

Police have arrested 61 people in an anti-burglary operation in Kowloon West.

Officers raided and checked various premises and arrested 54 men and seven women for various offences including burglary and handling stolen goods.

Suspected stolen property including 1,364 mobile phones, 68 cameras, 48 PDAs, 12 projectors, and some drugs, including a small amount of ice, heroin and 213 tablets of MDMA were seized, along with numerous burglary tools. The operation ended last night.

Burglaries in the area have fallen 13.7% to 1,697 cases in the first 10 months of the year. To ensure this downward trend continues, 6,400 leaflets were distributed to the public advising on burglary prevention and crime awareness.
