*
Hong Kong Police

A driver was killed and his passenger injured when his car collided with a container truck in Shatin.

At about 5.50pm, the man was driving on Tai Po Road towards Kowloon when his car reportedly ran out of control, swerved into the Shatin-bound lane and smashed into the truck.

The 25-year-old car driver was trapped inside and was rescued by the firemen. Ambulancemen  certified him dead at the scene at about 6.25pm. His passenger, a 26-year-old man, was sent to Caritas Medical Centre for treatment.

The New Territories South Special Investigation Team for Traffic is following up.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or has information to offer is urged to contact the officers at 2611 3200 or 2611 3320.
