A Customs officer has been charged for allegedly accepting $82,000 in bribes for getting restricted information on six companies under investigation, and departmental staff deployment.
Assistant Trade Controls Officer Ricky Len, 34, faces two counts of conspiracy to accept advantages. He has been released on bail and will appear at North Kowloon Magistracy on November 18 for mention, pending case transfer to the District Court.
The Independent Commission Against Corruption arrested Len during a graft inquiry in September.
One of the charges alleges Len conspired with a garment factory operator to accept $12,000 as a reward for submitting 11 forms for retrieving restricted information on six companies.
He is also alleged to have conspired with the garment factory operator to accept monthly payments totalling $70,000 as rewards for supplying to the operator information about the departmental duty rosters.
The alleged offences took place between October last year and September.
