Robbers take $3.3m in mobile phones
*
Hong Kong Police

Police are appealing for information on a Sha Tin robbery in which $3.3 million in mobile phones were taken.

At about 12.30pm yesterday, a private car driven by a 33-year-old man carrying 5,000 phones along Tate's Cairn Highway was intercepted by another car with three men on board near Ma On Shan Road.

Two of them, armed with a hammer and a suspected pistol, forced the driver out, blindfolded and tied him up. He was eventually released outside Heng Fa Chuen, Chai Wan, about 2pm.

The culprits drove away the victim's car together with the phones and his personal belongings, which included $10,000 cash, a watch and jewellery worth $200,000.

Anyone with information should call Police on 2694 6237. Anyone approached by people selling mobile phones of dubious origin are also urged to report the matter.
