2 more charged over Tung Chung excavation

*
ICAC

The ICAC has charged two more people over the illegal excavation of rocks from Tung Chung River.

Tung Chung Rural Committee members Lo Chi-kong, 43, and Law May-choi, 52, have been released on bail, pending appearances at Tsuen Wan Magistracy on July 21 to face a charge of conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice.

The charge alleges that during December 9 to 28 they conspired with Law Kam-fai, Wong Yat-wah, Li Kwai-mo, Mok Kwong-ming, Fan Chi-ping, Cheung Kwok-kwong and Wong Sing-lam to pervert the course of public justice.

They allegedly agreed to falsely represent to Police and other Government officers that the committee held an informal meeting last July to discuss the river's flooding problem, during which Wong Yat-wah was authorised to excavate rocks to ease the water flow.

The alleged co-conspirators have already been charged and have appeared in court.
