Abandoned: The three-month old baby girl was found at a kiosk at Wong Shek Pier in Sai Kung on July 4.

Police are anxious to locate the next-of-kin of a three-month-old baby girl who was found at a kiosk at Wong Shek Pier in Sai Kung on July 4.

At about 5am yesterday, a hiker found the baby girl crying inside a baby trolley with a blue cloth cushion and white star pattern at the kiosk. He then made a report to Police.

A piece of red cloth with a date - November 16, 2003 -  written in simplified Chinese characters was found in the trolley. However, medical examinations reveal that the girl is only about three months old.

The baby is 64 centimetres long and weighs about 7.26 kilograms. She was wearing a white hat, pink clothes and was covered with a black adult T-shirt when found. She was also wearing a silver necklace with a silver pendant with Chinese characters carved on both sides.

Although the baby had no apparent injuries, she was admitted in Tseung Kwan O Hospital for observation.

The Wong Tai Sin District Crime Squad is investigating.

People who have information to offer, especially taxi and public light bus drivers who might have picked up the baby girl and her relative, should contact the investigating officers at 2352 9457 or the Wong Tai Sin Police Station at 2352 9400.
