Beware of buying stolen LCD monitors: Police
*
LCD monitors
Hot technology: A semi-finished LCD monitor similar to the ones which were stolen in a Tsuen Wan robbery on July 1.

Members of the public should report to Police if they are approached by anyone selling unfinished LCD monitors of dubious origin.

The Police appeal came after more than 4,000 unfinished LCD monitors were stolen in Tsuen Wan.

At about 3.30am on July 1, a Kwai Chung-bound lorry loaded with 28 boxes of the LCD monitors was stopped by a van when it passed Tsing Tsuen Road near Tsuen Tsing Roundabout.

Two men got out of the van and threatened the lorry driver with a pistol-like object and ordered him to get out. They hit him, covered his head and tied him up before abandoning him at Route Twisk near Tai Lam Country Park.

The monitors are worth about $7.6 million.

The New Territories South Regional Crime Unit is investigating. Anyone who has information to offer is urged to contact the officers involved on 2631 8404 or 2631 8418.
