Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa says he is highly concerned over reports of public security officers operating in Hong Kong, and has asked Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee to follow-up the issue with Mainland authorities. Mr Tung said if the reports are true, the case is entirely unacceptable.
Mr Lee said earlier today that under the One Country, Two Systems principle, Hong Kong does not allow law-enforcement officials from other jurisdictions to operate here. Both the Central Government and the Guangdong Provincial Government agree that Mainland public security officers cannot enforce laws here.
When asked about the arrest of seven Mainlanders on Mount Davis last night, Mr Lee said Police acted on a complaint. As the case is still under investigation, details cannot yet be disclosed.
