19 arrested for drug trafficking in Yuen Long
*
Hong Kong Police

Police arrested 19 people and seize sharpened water pipes and knives in an anti-triad operation in Yuen Long this afternoon.

On Friday, New Territories North Region crime officers raided more than 30 locations in the district, resulting in the arrest of 17 men and two women, aged 27 to 66, for drugs-related offences.

During the operation, the officers seized a pack of suspected Ketamine, about 50 grams of heroin, some marked money, utensils containing traces of Methadone and some needles.

They also impounded seven private cars, believed to have been used for illegal activities, and $17,000 in cash from the ringleader.

A search of a Shan Pui Tsuen hillside led to the discovery of an axe, four sharpened metal pipes and seven knives.

Among the arrested people, six men and two women were charged with trafficking in dangerous drugs. They will appear in Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts on Monday.

The rest were being detained by the New Territories North Regional Anti-triad Unit for questioning.
