21 arrested for illegal employment

Immigration Department

Fifteen illegal workers and their six suspected employers, aged 22 to 61, have been arrested by Immigration officers who raided 11 hairdressing salons today.

Officers posed as customers to identify the workers. Identity checks were then conducted on more than 40 people.

Fifteen Mainlanders - four men and 11 women - were arrested for suspected breaches of their conditions of stay. Two men and four women, all locals, were arrested for employing them.

Three illegal workers were released on recognisance pending further investigation, while the six employers were released on bail. The remainder were detained for further inquiries.
