Information sought on Tai Kok Tsui robbery
*
Hong Kong Police

Police have appealed for information on a US$682,600 robbery which occurred on a ferry pier in Tai Kok Tsui on March 27.

After selling gold on board a vessel off Lamma Island, a Korean businessman, aged 57, took the proceeds - amounting to US$682,600 - in a box from a fishing boat at a ferry pier near the Hoi Fai Road roundabout.

As he left the boat at about 8 pm, four men in their twenties reportedly ambushed the man using a wooden pole from behind him.

They reportedly made off with the box full of cash. The victim was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital with leg injuries. He was treated and discharged.

Mong Kok's District Crime Squad is investigating.

Members of the public who have information on the case or are approached for suspicious exchanges of large sums of US banknotes are urged to contact the police at 2398 6252 or 2398 6277.
