Police have neutralised a ketamine manufacturing centre in Tsuen Wan, arresting two men and seizing $2.44 million in drugs.
After a month's investigation and intelligence analysis, officers identified a psychotropic drug trafficking syndicate and after a lengthy ambush, intercepted a car on Tsuen King Circuit at 1.30pm yesterday.
Six blocks of suspected ketamine, weighing 3kgs, was found in the car and the driver and passenger, aged 21 and 23, were arrested.
Officers later searched a nearby flat in Tsuen Wan Centre and seized 12 blocks of suspected ketamine weighing 6kgs, 12 packets containing 5kgs of suspected powdered ketamine, 1kg of suspected cannabis buds, 12mm of suspected liquid ketamine, 62 suspected ecstasy tablets, 340 suspected Erimin-5 tablets, 17 cans of glucose and other paraphernalia. Officers also found a stun gun, 12 machetes and three black hoods.
This is the first time ketamine in block form has been seized.
The flat is believed to be a manufacturing centre in which ketamine is adulterated with glucose, and a hydraulic jack and mould is then used to press the mixture into block form.
It is believed the ketamine was targeted for youngsters on entertainment premises in West Kowloon.
The two suspects remain in custody for questioning.
