Director of Public Prosecutions Grenville Cross will lead a delegation of prosecutors to visit Shanghai from March 23 to 26 at the invitation of the Bureau of Justice of Shanghai.
The delegation will call on the Justice Bureau, the People's Procuratorate and the Public Security Bureau. It will also visit the Higher People's Court, the Legislative Affairs Office, the Notary Office and the Faculty of Law of Fudan University.
This is the first time a delegation of prosecutors has visited Shanghai.
Mr Cross said the visit is designed to promote understanding and goodwill with legal officials in Shanghai, exchange ideas and experiences and strengthen ties. He looked forward to being briefed on the latest legal developments.
"Closer links between those involved in legal work in Hong Kong and Shanghai are to be encouraged," he said.
The delegation includes Director of Public Prosecutions Arthur Luk, Senior Assistant Directors of Public Prosecutions Louisa Lai and Gavin Shiu, Senior Government Counsel Alex Lee and Lily Wong, and Government Counsel Vinci Lam and Peggy Au-Yeung.
