Prison officer jailed 4 months

*
ICAC

A Correctional Services Department officer has been jailed for four months for accepting a $2,000 loan without permission and helping an inmate bring a cheque into Shek Pik Prison for his signature.

Anders Lee, 33, was also ordered to pay a restitution of $2,000 to the Government at Kowloon City Magistracy today.

Lee earlier admitted four offences V one of accepting an advantage, one of introducing an unauthorised article into a prison, and two of carrying an unauthorised article out of a prison.

In sentencing, Magistrate Pang Chung-ping reprimanded Lee for the serious breach of trust.

His starting point of nine months was reduced to four, taking into account the defendant's guilty plea and his assistance in the ICAC's inquiry.

Also charged in connection with the case was Vu Van-lao, 36, who received a jail term of four months for his role. He admitted one count of introducing an unauthorised article into a prison, and two of carrying an unauthorised article out of a prison.
