Admiralty crash claims taxi driver's life

A taxi driver was killed and two men and a woman injured in a traffic accident in Admiralty this morning.

 

At about 4.10am, a taxi travelling westbound on Harcourt Road reportedly collided head-on with a private car that was travelling on the wrong side of the road near Admiralty Centre.

 

After the crash, the taxi rammed against a road maintenance vehicle stopped in the first lane of the road. The private car crashed into the embankment.

 

The 55-year-old taxi driver and the 28-year-old driver of the private car were trapped after the accident. Firemen rescued them and sent them to Queen Mary Hospital.

 

The taxi driver was certified dead at 5.55am.

 

The two passengers in the private car, a 28-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, were also injured taken to Queen Mary.

 

The private car driver was arrested for failing to undergo a breath test. He is being detained for enquiries.
