Police today charged a 39-year-old American woman with one count of murder after finding the body of her 40-year-old husband, also an American, in a storeroom in Aberdeen.
Hours before the grisly Thursday night discovery, she had told Police that he had assaulted her
The wife had made a report to the Western Police Station on Thursday, claiming he had assaulted her on the afternoon of November 2.
They sent the woman to Queen Mary Hospital for a medical check, but she later disappeared from the hospital.
That afternoon, a colleague of the man called Police to report that he had gone missing.
The Western District Crime Squad took over the case. They found the woman in the couple's flat in Hong Kong Parkview Block 17, on Tai Tam Road in Aberdeen.
She gave them keys to an underground storeroom she rented in Block 15. At about 11:45pm on Thursday, officers found her husband's body, wrapped in a carpet and plastic sheets.
An autopsy showed he died of head injuries.
Since the woman is being detained in the custodial ward at Queen Elizabeth Hospital for medical treatment, her case will be heard in her absence in Western Magistrates' Courts on Monday.
