DC member facing 9 counts of false accounting
*
ICAC

A Sha Tin District Councillor was today charged by the ICAC for allegedly making about $80,000 in false expenditure claims.

Liu Huan-yee, 43, has been released on ICAC bail and will appear at Sha Tin Magistracy tomorrow morning to face nine counts of false accounting.

The alleged offences took place between November 2000 and July last year.

The charges allege Liu, in furnishing information for applications for reimbursement of expenses incurred at a number of activities organised by a council working group, had dishonestly produced to the council and the Environmental Campaign Committee accounting documents which to her knowledge were false.

These purported to show the expenses had been incurred at the relevant activities and paid for by the working group.
