Customs officers have seized about $13 million in unmanifested and counterfeit goods on two river trade vessels.

The first operation found about $5 million in goods on a 40-foot container declared to be carrying 530 chargers at the Yau Ma Tei Public Cargo Working Area

The seizure included 500 boxes of unmanifested fireworks and a large quantity of suspected counterfeit goods, such as, clothes, rucksacks and mobile phone batteries and accessories.

Investigations revealed the transhipment was from Huangpu and destined for the Philippines.

Customs officers later intercepted another vessel heading towards the Mainland off Tseung Kwan O, declared to be carrying metal scrap.

However, officers found $8 million in unmanifested goods, including rolls of film, destined for Huidong.

No arrest has been made so far. Investigations are continuing. The raids took place on September 25.
