Customs seizes counterfeit garments worth $2m
*

Customs officers from the Ports & Maritime Command yesterday seized $2 million worth of counterfeit garments from a container arriving from Sri Lanka.

The clothes were good quality imitations that might have fetched an estimated $6.2 million at the retail level.

Officers at the Kwai Chung Container Terminal found 35,626 counterfeit garments, including men's T-shirts, shorts and briefs, while inspecting a 20-foot-long container imported by a vessel from Sri Lanka.

No arrest has yet been made. Customs investigations are continuing.

Hong Kong Customs is committed to combating counterfeiting activities to protect intellectual property rights.
