Police arrested 36 men and one woman in a four-day anti-triad operation in the New Territories.

Starting on July 16, Police raided more than  230 locations and seized  3,426 pirated computer game discs, 1,389 pirated optical discs, 2,595 litres of dutiable oil, some offensive weapons and a small quantity of dangerous drugs.

Police arrested 37 people for various offences including possession of dutiable goods, possession of pirated optical discs, possession of arms without a licence and offensive weapons, and possession of dangerous drugs.

A Police spokesman reiterated that similar operations would be conducted on a regular basis to stem any triad related activities in a bid to curb their sources of income.

Jointly conducted with the Customs & Excise Department, the operation involved officers from the Organised Crime & Triad Bureau and Crime units of the New Territories North and South Regions.

Men charged with possession of obscene article

Meanwhile, Police charged two men each with one count of possession of an obscene article for the purpose of publication. They will appear in Kowloon City Magistrates' Court on Monday and Tuesday.

Pollice officers attached to Crime units of Kowloon West Region arrested the pair in an anti-triad operation mounted yesterday in which 21 persons were arrested and some dutiable cigarettes, suspected obscene VCD/DVDs and counterfeit handbags and luggage were seized.
