Police preparations: Commissioner of Police Tsang Yam-pui meets his senior officers to discuss the force's future strategy. |
Police have drawn up a list of 'critical issues' the force must address if it is to successfully deal with new challenges presented to it.
That was the message from Commissioner Tsang Yam-pui after a recent planning session in which the force's management mapped out its strategic direction for the next three years.
Mr Tsang said the eight critical issues requiring strategic direction were identified to ensure the force understood the law and order situation in Hong Kong and its neighbouring areas, anticipated what might happen in future and prepared for the possible challenges.
Mr Tsang said the force would focus on four key areas: Providing the most efficient, effective and caring service to the public; supporting the Government's Pearl River Delta integration policies; managing human resources effectively to enhance motivation and career development; and, continuing to exploit information technology development within the Police.
The eight issues will be finalised and made public after more scrutiny.
