Police have arrested 388 women and 75 men in a joint operation targeting triad and other illegal activities in west Kowloon early today.
Police, Immigration, Customs, Labour, and Television & Entertainment Licensing Authority officers mounted the operation.
Fifty-eight premises were raided and 463 people were apprehended for various offences including breach of condition of stay, soliciting for immoral purpose, possession of dutiable goods and possession of obscene articles and pirated optical discs.
Aged 16 to 56, the arrested included 409 two-way permit holders, 11 Mainland passport holders, 16 Thais and two Pakistanis. The rest were local residents.
Over 240,000 VCDs and DVDs worth about $5 million, and 718,580 sticks of contraband cigarettes valued at about $1.1 million were seized.
