Mao's liaisons to be staged in Shanghai
*
Tse Kwan-ho & Josie Ho
Star cast: Tse Kwan-ho and Josie Ho star in The Liaisons.
*

The Fredric Mao Theatre Project and the Hong Kong Arts Festival will present the musical The Liaisons in September, one of the highlights of Hong Kong's cultural programme for the Shanghai Expo.

Inspired by Tong Tik-sang's classic Cantonese opera The Legend of the Purple Hairpin, the musical received critical acclaim at its premiere at the Hong Kong Arts Festival last March.

The performances will be held at the Shanghai Theatre Academy from September 3 to 5.

Presented in Cantonese with Chinese and English subtitles, The Liaisons is directed by director laureate Fredric Mao with a high calibre artistic crew comprising playwrights of Infernal Affairs Felix Chong and Alan Mak, composer Leon Ko, Oscar-winning designer Tim Yip, as well as renowned actors Tse Kwan-ho, Josie Ho, Lam Kam-tong and Amy Wu.
