Will to Build show to re-run
*

Theatre du Pif will re-run their highly acclaimed work The Will to Build this summer before performing in the Shanghai Grand Theatre in September as part of Hong Kong's Expo 2010 programme.

The Hong Kong theatre company is known for its cross-cultural heritage and bilingual productions in Cantonese and English.

Exploring space, pace, functionality, spirituality and identity The Will to Build examines the past, present and future of Hong Kong's relentless cycle of construction and destruction, and its effects on the bodies, hearts and minds of its inhabitants.

It skilfully weaves together verbatim transcripts of Theatre du Pif's interviews with people who are intimately involved in and affected by the city's obstinate will to build.

It has again collaborated with BURST TV, a London-based collective of multimedia artists who have worked with British pop band the Pet Shop Boys.

It has also invited Australian actress Claire Nicholls to join the production, while the local team are made up of director-performer Bonni Chan, stage designer Charfi Hung, lighting designer Lau Ming-hang and costume designer Cheng Man-wing.

Hong Kong shows will be held July 30, 31 and August 1 at City Hall. Click here for tickets.

The Shanghai shows are scheduled for September 24 and 25. Call 2904 2030 for enquiries.
