The Centre for Health Protection is investigating the case of a 58-year-old man admitted to Queen Mary Hospital who complained of weakness in his lower legs after he had a human swine flu vaccination.

The man received the jab on December 24. He developed weakness in both his lower legs for about a week before he was hospitalised on January 2. He is in serious condition, but his vital signs are stable.

The expert group on serious adverse events following swine flu vaccination - made up of clinicians, microbiologists, neurologists and epidemiologists - will meet tomorrow to discuss the case.
