Immigration point health screening to wind down

*
Department of Health

Hong Kong will gradually scale down health screening measures at immigration control points from July 1.

The Department of Health said the decision has been made after careful assessment of the threat of a SARS resurgence in Hong Kong and neighbouring areas.

Travellers will no longer be required to submit health declaration forms. Body temperature checks for those leaving Hong Kong will cease from July 12. However, temperature screening will remain for inbound travellers.

A new health message will be broadcast at immigration points to encourage travellers to approach medical posts if they have symptoms like fever, cough or breathlessness.

The modified health screening measures are meant to protect public health while avoiding unnecessary inconvenience to travellers.
