Hiram's Highway roadworks gazetted
*

Propose roadworks at Hiram's Highway to improve the highway and the local access to Ho Chung have been gazetted. The works will start in 2011 for completion in 2014.

 

The proposed works include:

* provision of an additional two-lane Sai Kung-bound carriageway alongside the existing Hiram's Highway between Clear Water Bay Road and New Hiram's Highway;

* widening of a section of Hiram's Highway between Nam Pin Wai roundabout and Pak Wai from a single two-lane carriageway to a dual two-lane carriageway;

* provision of a vehicular bridge across Ho Chung Channel and demolition of the existing vehicular bridge;

* provision of a footbridge across Hiram's Highway near Nam Pin Wai roundabout;

* improvement of a section of Ho Chung Road;

* widening, realignment and extension of Luk Mei Tsuen Road to connect with Ho Chung Road;

* permanent or temporary closure and reconstruction of sections of the existing footpaths, carriageways, central medians/refuge islands and amenity areas;

* ancillary works such as drainage and slope improvement;

* implementation of environmental mitigation measures; and

* provision of noise barriers, traffic aids and retaining walls.

 

The plans and scheme of the works are available for public inspection at Central & Western District Office, Sai Kung District Office and District Lands Office in Sai Kung.

 

Anyone who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport & Housing, 16th Floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, by May 25.
