Revitalisation

Chung On Street revitalised

*

Tsuen Wan's Chung On Street has had a facelift following the phased completion of a programme to enhance its living environment and boost the district's economic development.

Secretary for Development Carrie Lam officiated at the completion ceremony for the revitalisation programme today.

"The programme not only enhanced the living standard of residents in Tsuen Wan district, but also injected vitality into the renowned 'jewellery and goldsmith square' and helped attract tourists and people from other districts to visit Tsuen Wan, thus fostering the district's economic development," she said.

Works include pavement resurfacing and widening, replacement and installation of ornamental railings, resurfacing of roads with brightly-coloured materials and planting for greening and street-improvement purposes.

To facilitate residents' and visitors' access, existing transport facilities were integrated with re-arranged passenger pick-up and drop-off points and rain shelters.

Mrs Lam listened to the public's views on the programme and unveiled a new travel information board and a special sculpture.
