More than 90 delegates are participating in a regional seminar in Hong Kong to share their knowledge and experience in aerodrome certification.
Speaking at the opening session today, Director-General of Civil Aviation Norman Lo said aerodrome operation, airlines, aircraft maintenance organisations and air traffic management are the four major pillars for civil aviation in Hong Kong.
Recognising the importance of aerodrome safety and the merit of having independent oversight, the department has been annually issuing an aerodrome licence to the Airport Authority certifying the airport is safe for use.
The seminar runs from November 3 to 5. It consists of a two-day meeting during which expert speakers from various civil aviation administrations and airport authorities will speak.
A site visit to Hong Kong International Airport and various service organisations will be held on the third day.
